A YEAR ago Harlow moved into tier 3 Covid restrictions. Residents will recall that due to the massive effort of all involved and the cooperation of the people of Harlow we weathered that storm and our health services were not overwhelmed.

Now we face the onset of the Omicron variant of the Covid virus which scientists tell us is currently doubling every two to three days.

On the 8th December the Government issued new guidance as a response to this variant. This guidance includes working from home where possible and wearing a mask in public places if not eating, drinking or doing exercise. We urge everyone in Harlow to adhere to this guidance.

And last night, following further scientific advice the Prime Minister stressed to the nation the need to get vaccinated and have the necessary booster shots.
We are concerned that the take up of vaccinations in Harlow is lower than both the national and Essex average. So we urge all residents, if they haven’t already done so, to get vaccinated.

The NHS have vaccination clinics at Lister House and the Leisurezone and further clinics are being set up in pharmacies throughout the town. So please use these services!
Further support for those who need it is available is available from the Harlow Community Hub Tel 01279 927005.

Mon – Friday 10.00am until 2.00pm

Wishing everyone in Harlow a happy and healthy Xmas and New Year
