We are deeply saddened to learn about the death of our friend and former MP, Stan Newens, at the age of 91.
Stan was an invaluable part of Harlow Labour and will be dearly missed. A life-long socialist, historian and campaigner for social justice, Stan was the MP for Epping and was elected as Harlow’s first MP in 1974. Stan also represented London Central as an MEP.
His lifelong commitment to community activism won him admirers across the political divides and across generations and across all levels of the Labour Party.
We share our deepest condolences with his family and friends at this time.
