29th September, Harlow Town Park.

Harlow’s Labour Prospective Parliamentary candidate Laura McAlpine is hosting ‘Laura’s Big Ride-Out’ children’s cycle ride, starting in the Town Park, and following a circuit around Harlow’s cycle paths. The ride will end back in the town park for a picnic and some musical entertainment on the bandstand. All children taking part can raise funds for their school PTA or Friends Association (You can download a sponsor sheet here as PDF)

The Ride Out will be non-competitive. It is a procession, not a race. Laura’s Big Ride-Out takes place on 29th September. There will be no charge for taking part, and a positive ‘healthy exercise’ message will be promoted. It is a great opportunity to get involved in fund raising and charitable activity in a fun context. Laura would like all children who are able, to bring a single item for Harlow Foodbank, delivered to the start/finish line.

Taking part is very easy. You don’t need to pre-book your place. You can arrive in the Town Park (Bandstand area) between 1pm and 1.30pm and ‘sign on’ when you arrive. We will be setting off at 2pm, with all participants expected to have completed the course by 3pm. Older children getting back early can of course ride the circuit again if they have time.

If you dress up yourself or your bike, you could be winning a prize in the day. There will be trophies for fancy dress by age group, best dressed Bike, and community spirit awards. The event will be open to children from 5 to 15, and we would like at least 1 parent to ride with participating children. Prizes will be awarded at 3.45pm.

Laura is visiting as many schools as possible before the event, fully explaining the day’s proceedings, and leaving leaflets/sponsorship forms. If you need any further information, please email laura4harlow@lauramcalpine.co.uk
