This May, Harlow Labour are fielding a great set of local candidates bidding to represent your area from May 5th. The range of candidates with a mix of unique skills are hoping to be your representatives over the next few years on Harlow District Council.
The Tories cannot be permitted to keep control of the council after:
- Historic rises in the cost of living
- Council tax raised, despite being promised a council tax cut
- Raiding the council’s reserves which put’s the council’s finances at risk of bankrupting the town
- They partied while we obeyed their own rules throughout the pandemic
A vote for Labour, means we can continue the great work that we had started before the Tories gained control. The nine years Labour were in power, we achieved so much:
- We built the first council houses that Harlow has seen for 20 years
- We lobbied for a new hospital
- We improved the areas around Oakwood and Netteswell Pond
- We created HTS and ended the contracts with Kier, bringing ~£1,000,000 profits back into the Council to reinvest into the town after just the first Year!
- We set up the Enterprise Zone
- We campaigned to keep all of our libraries
- We reduced carbon emissions by 39% in five years
- We reinstated the Harlow Carnival
- We set up the Men’s Shed
- We achieved a Green Flag Rating for our Town Park
- We improved council houses with new kitchens and bathrooms
- We planted wildflower meadows to brighten up Harlow
- We did all this despite the Conservative Government cutting council funding by a massive 70%
